“Lengthy Haired Freaky Folks” is a music written by Frank Zappa and launched on the 1967 album Completely Free. The lyrics are nonsensical and have surreal imagery, equivalent to “freaks with pigtails all the way down to their knees” and “dancing bare within the rain.” Regardless of its unusual lyrics, the music grew to become successful single and helped to determine Zappa as a counterculture icon.
The music has been interpreted in many various methods, however Zappa himself has mentioned that it’s merely a “nonsense music.” Nevertheless, some critics have advised that the music is a satire of the hippie counterculture, whereas others have seen it as a celebration of individuality and self-expression.
