A router MAC handle (Media Entry Management handle) is a novel identifier assigned to a router’s community interface card (NIC). It’s a 48-bit handle, usually written in hexadecimal format, that identifies the router on a community. The MAC handle is used to make sure that information is distributed to the right machine on a community.
The MAC handle is essential for a number of causes. First, it permits routers to speak with one another and with different units on a community. Second, it may be used to trace the motion of units on a community. Third, it may be used to troubleshoot community issues.
